Inovação biomédica e o animal não humano em pesquisa: controvérsias científicas e reflexões éticas para contribuição na implementação de políticas públicas de técnicas substitutivas ao uso de animais em pesquisa, ensino e indústria

A experimentação animal é uma prática extremamente incorporada à ciência biomédica moderna, com raízes desde a Antiguidade, mas que foi cada vez mais se desenvolvendo, adquirindo características bem definidas. O animal não humano, no contexto da experimentação, é um ser vulnerado, enclausurado dentro de uma estrutura muito bem definida, que mantém um discurso focado na excelência do modelo do animal na pesquisa e testes, com o objetivo de garantir a manutenção dessas práticas. No entanto, ao analisarmos os dados científicos obtidos com a experimentação animal, que visa primariamente um possível benefício humano, assim como as argumentações éticas relativas ao respeito à vida e ao sofrimento do animal envoltas nesta situação, a argumentação ética prepondera sobre uma base científica cuja eficácia é também extremamente questionável. Partindo de uma análise crítica da aplicação do modelo animal como padrão da pesquisa científica e da concepção ética do reconhecimento da vulnerabilidade do animal não humano na experimentação, propomos que esta reflexão colabore com políticas públicas que incentivem e implementem as técnicas substitutivas ao uso de animais não humanos em pesquisa, testes da indústria e ensino na área biomédica no Brasil.

A dor que dói na escola: psicanálise e educação no século XXI

A presente pesquisa nasce da inserção de uma psicóloga em formação psicanalítica em escolas municipais da cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Nosso ponto de partida é a expansão dos diagnósticos de Déficit de Atenção e Hiperatividade em crianças em idade escolar e de Burnout em professores. O reconhecimento de que tais diagnósticos são nomes correntes na atualidade para nomear a dor que dói na escola permite que nos questionemos sobre as mudanças no campo da cultura e suas repercussões na tarefa educativa na escola. Para construirmos uma leitura sobre o mal-estar na escola em nossa época, recorremos à psicanálise enquanto instrumento primordial. Nossa investigação se inicia em Freud e suas diversas concepções de educação, desde a noção de moral sexual civilizada até admissão da educação enquanto uma tarefa necessária e impossível, causadora do mal-estar. Logo em seguida, abordamos a releitura de Freud feita por Lacan a partir da teoria dos discursos. Passamos, assim, à educação enquanto laço social. Verificamos o quanto Lacan avança ao distinguir o discurso do mestre como discurso de entrada na linguagem, a partir do qual os outros discursos são possíveis. O discurso do mestre escreve a operação permanente em toda civilização, sem que isso indique a imutabilidade do Outro. Ao nos indagarmos sobre a delimitação do Outro em nossa época, reconhecemos a importância do discurso da ciência e do capitalista, assim como o Outro nãotodo. Com essas chaves de leitura, questionamo-nos sobre o lugar da criança na cultura hoje e sobre os significantes-mestres das atuais políticas públicas para a educação, aproximando-nos do mal-estar na escola. Sustentados por essas ferramentas, terminamos por nos indagar sobre a prática da psicanálise nas instituições escolares, desvendando que a partir das (re)invenções da psicanálise, há na escola um lugar possível para o psicanalista.

Citizenship education, national identity and political trust: The case of Sweden

The challenging effects of globalization upon the nation-state have been a recurrent theme in the social science discourse since the 1990’s. Nationally organized education is also seen as challenged by new demands originating from globalization. In this article it is argued that ‘nation-state’ and ‘national identity’ are highly relevant concepts when discussing a citizenship education that seeks to develop a civic ethos with, potentially, a global reach. It is further argued that the understanding of such an ethos would benefit significantly from incorporating the role of political trust since trust has been identified as a main feature of the social capital that makes democracy work. Three themes are brought together: national identity and identification, the importance for democracy of political trust and the challenges citizenship education face when carried out in a national context but intended to manage issues that go far beyond the reach of the nation-state. The importance of citizenship education is discussed using recent research on the Swedish citizenship education classroom.

Anlage-Umwelt-Diskurs. Historie, Systematik und erziehungswissenschaftliche Relevanz

Sind Menschen das Produkt ihrer Gene oder ihres Umfeldes? Ist Intelligenz erblich? Kommen Mädchen und Jungen bereits mit vorgeprägten Gehirnstrukturen zur Welt? Kaum eine wissenschaftlich geführte Debatte ist so oft aufgegriffen, heftig diskutiert und als gelöst oder auch prinzipiell unlösbar deklariert worden wie die Frage, ob die Fähigkeiten eines Menschen stärker (oder gar ausschließlich) durch die Anlagen (Gene) oder durch Umwelteinflüsse (Milieu, Erziehung) bestimmt werden. Ziel der Untersuchung ist [...] eine Rekonstruktion des internationalen und interdisziplinären Diskurses über Anlage und Umwelt von seinen Anfängen in der Antike bis zur Gegenwart. Als aktuelle Positionen werden die Verhaltensgenetik (Zwillingsforschung), Soziobiologie/Evolutionspsychologie sowie kritische Ansätze eines konstruktivistischen Interaktionismus vorgestellt. Zudem werden anhand von Beispielen aus den Bereichen "Intelligenz" (Jensen-Debatte und Burt-Skandal der 1970er Jahre) und "Geschlecht" (Mead-Freeman-Kontroverse in den 80er Jahren und der Fall David Reimer zur Jahrtausendwende) vier heiße Phasen des Diskurses nachgezeichnet und hinsichtlich der Intentionen und Strategien der beteiligten Akteure hinterfragt. Abschließend wird die Bedeutung aktueller Positionen für die Erziehungswissenschaft diskutiert und nach Konsequenzen für die pädagogische Forschung, Theoriebildung und künftige Rezeptionsperspektiven biologischen Wissens gefragt. This paper will propose that literature and science, far from being discrete spheres of cultural activity, are, in fact, the cultural expressions of interlocking myths. They therefore overlap and even take each other’s places, as examination of the ‘science’ of C.G.
